Global Executive Program
Since 2011, Dr. Chang-Dae Ham has developed and managed a Global Executive Program in Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising. Every summer, ten to fifteen industry professionals from South Korea and the US visit the Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to learn fundamentals of consumer psychology and the most recent developments in the advertising industry. In collaboration with the College of Media, Dr. Ham designed tailored curricula for the industry professionals who participated in this executive training program. The first module of the program includes learning fundamental consumer psychology and behavior on the UIUC campus by inviting renowned professors in diverse disciplines (advertising, communication, marketing, psychology, computer science, information science, fine arts, etc.); the second module includes learning about recent developments in the advertising industry by meeting executive-level professionals in Chicago (Google, Facebook, Adobe, Leo Burnet, Energy BBDO, We Are Unlimited, Miller Coors, Shafer Condon Carter, etc.).
The program has been highly successful: over its runtime of ten years (2011-present), over 100 executives have participated, and it has generated $1,057,300 in gross income for the college. In addition, based on the established relationship between HS AD and UIUC, participating companies have hired UIUC advertising students in both South Korea and the US.
